Happy Lion’s Acid Gate! May the great cosmic thumb squeeze the pimple on the end of your nose! 😂

Wow… Lion’s Gate. More like squeeze the pimple on the end of your nose gate. Every year everyone gets wonderfully excited about cosmic gateways opening, higher energies arriving and all sorts of beautiful things descending from the heavens. We naturally imagine that if more light enters our lives then life should immediately begin feeling lighter, yet what if more light does not first feel like light at all? What if it feels like pressure? What if it feels like old emotions suddenly surfacing, strange irritations appearing from nowhere and little parts of ourselves we thought had disappeared years ago quietly walking back into the room asking if anyone minds if they take over for a while. A few days ago my wife and I were restoring the decking on our porch, and before you can apply the beautiful fresh oil you first have to paint on this acidic solution that strips away everything the timber has been holding onto. It is quite remarkable to watch because the wood almost immediately looks worse. It becomes pale, dry and thirsty, almost as though it has been abandoned in the desert. If someone walked past at that exact moment they would probably think we had ruined a perfectly good deck, but of course the opposite was happening. The old oils had to be drawn out from deep within the grain before the new could properly soak in. Then you simply leave it alone for a day. Twenty-four hours later you come back, apply the fresh oil and the wood drinks it in as though it has been waiting years for that very moment. It isn’t a perfect analogy, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it because perhaps this is exactly how consciousness grows. We spend so much of our lives asking for more light, more love, more understanding and more wisdom, yet perhaps before another coat can be given something first has to reach into the grain and draw out what has quietly been living there all along. It reminded me of a sentence by Samael Aun Weor that I have always loved. He wrote, “In this inner path, when we think we are doing very badly, it happens that we are doing very well.” At first that sounds almost ridiculous because surely if we are progressing everything should feel increasingly peaceful, but perhaps that is only how the little players inside the mind think. If the old oils are being drawn from the timber, naturally the wood is going to look rather uncomfortable for a while. If pressure reaches somewhere deeper than before then naturally something that has been hiding there for years will finally appear. Suddenly what feels like going backwards may actually be the first time we have truly begun seeing ourselves clearly. Perhaps the mistake has always been believing that seeing more of our darkness means we have become darker, when in reality it may simply mean more light has entered the room. What if the Moon is not simply another object moving through the sky but a large thumb squeeze to aid the light in those periods where life itself applies a little more pressure? Not pressure to punish us, but pressure to reveal us. Just enough pressure to draw another layer of old oil from the grain. Just enough pressure to expose another little resident quietly living inside the house. If that were true then perhaps what many people call difficult times are not interruptions to the work at all. They are the work. The Moon appears to shine, yet none of the light belongs to the Moon. It is simply sunlight reflected back to us during the night. A chimp looking into the sky could quite reasonably conclude the Moon has its own light because that is exactly how it appears, yet we know something else is happening. The light source comes from somewhere else entirely. It made me wonder if our ordinary sense of identity might be rather similar. We naturally assume this little personality is the source because it is the only thing we have known for most of our lives, but perhaps it is doing exactly what the Moon does. Perhaps it is reflecting something much deeper without realising where the light is actually coming from. Side note, have you seen those true mirrors, where two mirrors are placed together so that, for the first time, you see yourself without the normal left-right reversal? If you have never seen people’s reactions I recommend looking them up because they are beautiful. People often smile, laugh or simply stare at themselves in silence because there is something strangely familiar yet completely new about the face looking back at them. We assume an ordinary mirror shows us exactly who we are, yet technically it only shows an inversion. It isn’t false, but neither is it the original. Perhaps consciousness has become so accustomed to looking at its own reflection that one day it simply forgot there was ever a Sun behind the Moon. I wrote recently that I no longer believe the ego is the enemy. The ego is astonishingly creative. It writes music, builds bridges, engineers spacecraft, paints masterpieces, raises children, plants forests. There is nothing inherently wrong with that creativity. In fact it is magnificent. The interesting question is not whether the ego exists but who it serves. In service of the true light it becomes one of the most extraordinary instruments imaginable. In service of the reflected / false self it slowly begins believing it owns the house and punk music is born. Hahaha. Yesterday I watched the new MrBeast video and I couldn’t help but laugh because whether he realised it or not he may have accidentally built one of the greatest little metaphysical experiments I have seen in a very long time. The challenge is beautifully simple. Here is a magnificent mansion and whoever stays inside the longest wins the house. At first it sounds like an incredible gift, but the longer I watched the more I realised the mansion was never really the experiment at all. Time was. The rules quietly whisper the oldest spell humanity has ever believed. Stay one more day. Just a little longer. Tomorrow you’ll finally have it. Tomorrow you’ll finally be free. It is remarkable when you really look. Then something else began to happen. The players started to go AWOL and lose their shit and start destroying the house they wanted to win. The mansion itself became very damaged. Doors smashed off, walls were marked, furniture was broken, beautiful vases smashed, rooms became chaotic and this beautiful place that had first been introduced as a gift slowly began reflecting the consciousness of those living inside it. The longer I watched the more I realised perhaps they were never really trying to win a house at all. They were trying to win a box. A larger box perhaps, a prettier box than yesterday, but still a box. It reminded me how often the mind does exactly the same thing. It rarely asks whether the box is worth living inside. It simply asks how it might become the owner of it. Somewhere along the way we stopped treating the mind as a beautiful place through which life could move with ease and instead turned it into something to defend, improve, decorate and eventually possess. The tragedy is that while everyone is busy trying to own the house, nobody is really looking after the house anymore. The funny thing is that when you become still enough to observe your own mind you discover something rather amusing. There are many creative forces serving a false self in there. There are players everywhere and all acting like the players in the video. One wants recognition. Another wants security. One wants to replay an argument from fifteen years ago just in case somebody finally admits they were wrong. One is hating others, one is loving them, one is destroying the kitchen while one is not even wanting any house, it just wants to win at any cost. Another is already planning next Tuesday while someone else is still upset about last Tuesday. Then there is my favourite one, the little fellow who desperately wants to become the most enlightened person in the room / box. He has simply changed clothes. Underneath he is still trying to win exactly the same game. The more you observe, the more you realise they have all been introducing themselves as “me” for years, and perhaps that is why genuine self-observation feels so strange at first. You suddenly realise you have been living in a house full of contestants without ever noticing the competition taking place. Creativity itself has never been the issue. The interesting question is simply what that creativity is serving. In service of the deeper light it becomes one of the most beautiful instruments imaginable. In service of the little player that believes it owns the house, it begins building a prison while convincing itself it is constructing a palace. Pressure does not create selfishness, fear or pride. Pressure simply reveals who is really living in the building. Fire does not create gold. Fire simply burns away everything that was hiding it. The Moon and its higher octave Saturn, generally in the occult schools, are seen as something that observes, monitors, tests and reveals. The Moon is something whose extra reflected light quietly increases the pressure. The Moon card in Tarot is also the card of initiation. Not because something wishes to punish us, but because what remains unconscious cannot become conscious unless it is first brought to the surface. The MrBeast house made sense. Nothing new was being created. Something hidden in the players was simply becoming visible. That can change the way we look at difficult periods in life. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” maybe ask, “What is being revealed?” The pressure does not create the old oils in the timber. The acid simply draws them out. The mansion does not create greed, pride or fear. It reveals them. The Moon does not place darkness inside us. It simply applies enough pressure for whatever is already there to quietly step forward and introduce itself. Perhaps this is why Samael could say that when we think we are doing badly we may actually be doing very well, because what feels like failure to the little players is often the first time they have ever been properly seen. That also made me think differently about Lion’s Gate. Perhaps it is not simply a time when wonderful energies pour into the Earth while we all sit around waiting to receive them. Perhaps it is more like the decking. More pressure. More acid reaching deeper into the grain. More of what has been quietly living inside us finally coming into the light. If that is true then these periods are not really asking us to become something new. They are asking us to become honest enough to see what has been governing the house all along. Nobody locks the doors, nobody forces anyone to remain, yet almost nobody leaves. The prison has no bars and no guards. It is built entirely from the promise that fulfilment lives somewhere in the future. Yesterday quietly pulls from one direction, tomorrow seduces from the other and all the while the only place life has ever actually existed patiently waits here in the present wondering if anyone is ever coming home. Plato’s cave has always fascinated me, but I sometimes wonder if we oversimplify it. We often speak as though there is darkness inside the cave and light outside it, but perhaps there are really two darknesses and two lights. The first darkness is the shadows themselves, where people mistake appearances for reality. The second darkness is the cave that contains the whole performance. Then there is the first light, the fire inside the cave that finally allows someone to realise the shadows are not what they thought they were. Compared to the shadows that fire is already an awakening, but it still belongs to the cave. Only then does someone step outside and discover the Sun, and suddenly even the fire is understood to have been another stage in a much greater journey. Perhaps awakening is not one giant leap at all. Perhaps it is simply moving from one light to a greater one until eventually we discover the source itself. I have often said to people to follow their joy, moment by moment, because I still believe it is one of the healthiest things we can do. It begins turning us away from the shadows and toward that first inner flame. It gives us enough light to stop living entirely through reaction and habit. Yet lately I have begun wondering whether even that first awakening eventually reveals its own limitation. You realise you are no longer hypnotised by the shadows, yet there is still a strange sense of being enclosed by something. Many people would say that enclosure is the mind, and I think there is truth in that, but I cannot shake the feeling that it goes even deeper. Perhaps the greatest cave we have ever lived inside is the simple idea of time itself. When I watched the MrBeast challenge I realised the contestants were not really trapped by a mansion. They were trapped by tomorrow. Tomorrow they would win. Tomorrow they would finally own the house. Tomorrow they would finally be free. Nobody was imprisoned by walls. They were imprisoned by an idea, and perhaps that is exactly how psychological time works. It quietly persuades us that fulfilment is always somewhere else. We sacrifice today for tomorrow, then tomorrow for the next tomorrow, until one day we realise we have spent our lives chasing a future that only ever existed as a thought. The mind, which could have remained a beautiful place through which life moved freely, slowly becomes another possession we are trying to improve, defend and eventually own. The game survives because almost nobody questions the rules. Perhaps this is why I no longer see these periods of pressure as something unfortunate. The Moon is not there to make us suffer. It is there to reveal us. Like the acid on the timber it reaches a little deeper each cycle, drawing out another layer that has quietly soaked into the grain. The subconscious slowly becomes conscious, not because someone tells us what is hidden, but because pressure makes it impossible for it to remain hidden any longer. The little players begin introducing themselves one by one. Pride steps forward. Fear steps forward. Comparison steps forward. The one that desperately wants recognition steps forward. Even the one that wants to become spiritually special eventually walks into the room and introduces himself. Nothing has been added. Everything was already living in the house. Perhaps that is why genuine transformation so rarely feels like collecting something new. It feels much more like seeing something old. Every cycle strips another layer. Every period of pressure reaches a little deeper into the wood. Every uncomfortable moment gives us another opportunity to notice who is really still living in the house and playing the games, and interestingly if they no longer come in life they will come in dreams. Mercury helps us descend into the Moon, or increases the pressure so we see who is inside. Perhaps that is the real invitation hidden inside all of this. Not to destroy the house, not to hate the mind and not even to wage war against the ego, because the ego itself is capable of extraordinary beauty when it remembers who it serves. The invitation is simply to notice who reaches for the keys each time life applies a little more pressure. If the Moon really is that ancient symbol of periodic testing that these old texts seem to describe, then perhaps every cycle is another opportunity to remember where the light actually comes from. The Moon never owned the light. It simply reflected it. Maybe we have been doing exactly the same thing all along. So perhaps Lion’s Gate is not really about waiting for something magical to arrive from the heavens. Perhaps it is simply another invitation to allow the old oils to come to the surface, to stop mistaking the stripping process for failure and to trust that another coat of light can only be received by wood willing to become empty again. This is why I no longer think the house was ever the prison. The Sun is always the source. The Moon never produces its own light; it simply reflects it. The Moon becomes associated with the subconscious, with cycles, with observation, with testing and initiation, while Saturn quietly stands behind it representing the pressure of law itself. None of them appear interested in punishment. They appear interested in revelation. They seem to exist so that what remains hidden can no longer remain hidden. The reflected self slowly becomes conscious of the true light, not because somebody tells it the answer, but because enough pressure is applied that every false ruler eventually introduces itself. Perhaps this is why the game could never really be about the house. The real prison was something much more subtle. It was the agreement to continue playing. It was the belief that fulfilment lived in tomorrow, that freedom belonged to another day, another achievement, another lifetime. Time itself is the true prison. Yesterday became the walls. Tomorrow became the ceiling. The present remained the open doorway almost nobody noticed because everyone was too busy trying to win another day inside the game. So maybe that is why every cycle of pressure is such an extraordinary gift. It is another opportunity to stop asking, “How do I win?” and begin asking, “Who still believes this game must continue?” The Moon applies the pressure. Saturn ensures nothing hidden remains hidden forever. The Sun simply continues shining, patiently waiting for another clear window through which its light can enter. Perhaps enlightenment was never about escaping the house at all. Perhaps it was simply the moment we realised that the house had never imprisoned us. Time did. We can follow our joy because we hope it will make us somebody in seven years’ time. We imagine the future version of ourselves becoming wiser, or somehow finally complete. That is certainly a healthier direction than chasing shadows on the wall, and perhaps it turns us toward the first fire within the cave, but it is still happening in time. It is still another version of tomorrow quietly whispering, “Keep going and one day you’ll arrive.” Then there seems to be another kind of joy altogether. A joy with no destination. A joy that does not ask, “Who will I become?” but simply asks, “What wishes to live through me now?” It creates because it loves creating. It serves because it loves serving. It walks because walking is beautiful. It sings because singing is already complete. There is no bargain with tomorrow because tomorrow is no longer required. Perhaps that is the joy that finally walks beyond the fire and into the Sun itself. Perhaps that is why the greatest illusion was never really the house, nor even the mind. The house was always beautiful. The mind is an extraordinary instrument. The real prison was the game we quietly agreed to play inside it. Time itself. Keeping the little player alive by stretching it between memory and hope. The prison was never built from walls. It was built from duration. The moment that spell is finally seen through, the players disappear with the boxes they were trying to win. Nothing real has been lost because nothing real was ever trapped. The Sun had never stopped shining. The Moon had simply been revealing what still believed it lived somewhere other than here. Happy Lion’s Acid Gate! May the great cosmic thumb squeeze the pimple on the end of your nose! 😂

The Thread

The Thread When I am present, the gateway opens. Futures unimaginable are here and now. When I try, I only allow the raiders of time to break through and destroy. Effortless effort. Simply the will to be alive. Butterflies land upon the golden rings. The thread is so impossibly thin, yet somehow I know it cannot be broken. I know I am married to the greatest star. Perhaps it was never I who came back. Perhaps it was my future self reaching backwards through time to heal the one standing here. The two rings move like fields beneath the wind, forever dancing around one another. I walk upon the earth, but I am spirit in disguise. The healing I receive today may be the magic I created in the future. Time bends where love remembers itself. I am safe. No one can see the seventh. It is hidden behind the one who believes he is walking.

The water in the waters

I stood among dreamers, speaking of a place that cannot be pointed to, a place closer than breath, older than memory, the silent Center from which every world is born. Yet they smiled politely, their thoughts already wandering. The dream itself called louder than the One who dreamed it, and the crowd dissolved into the colours of sleep. Then came a companion, familiar, yet somehow not the man I knew. His eyes were bright with the excitement of tomorrow’s dreams, building futures from the substance of imagination. I spoke of Koh Phangan, of the strange grace that first revealed the Center, of later discovering the Fourth Way, and realizing another had walked the same invisible path. He listened, yet only as one listens to distant rain, while his heart remained devoted to the landscape of dreaming. But the dream had not come for conversation. It had come to teach. For there, within the astral, I felt the three centers not as theories, but as living elements. The body remained earth— steady, recognizable, a vessel formed from subtle substance. The mind was fire, clear and luminous, its thoughts rising like silent flames that neither burned nor consumed. Yet the feeling center… the feeling center had become water. Not the heavy waters of Earth, stirred by pleasure and pain, fear and desire, but living water, transparent, still enough to reflect eternity. Here on Earth, our feeling is water flowing through earth. It gathers dust, absorbs memories, carries impressions from every passing event. Its currents are coloured by the personality, its waves disturbed by every passing wind. But there… it was water within water. No resistance. No sediment. No history. It did not merely feel. It knew. Every movement of that water carried the fragrance of Home. It was not emotion, but orientation. Not reaction, but remembrance. And I wondered— If feeling in the astral is water within water, what becomes of feeling in the mental world? Is it water carried by fire? Does love there become light? Does compassion become intelligence? Does wisdom burn away the last shadow until only transparent awareness remains? Perhaps these are not different centers at all. Perhaps there has only ever been one Center. The elements are merely garments, the worlds merely instruments, through which the same eternal Presence reveals another note of its own endless song. The Center itself never moves. Only the elements change. Earth gives it weight. Water gives it tenderness. Fire gives it vision. Air gives it freedom. Yet behind every element, behind every dream, behind every world that rises and falls, there waits the silent Center, calling each traveller home, not with words, but with the strange and unmistakable feeling that somewhere, beyond all dreams, we have always belonged.

You sent a signal into the dark. First through Klaatu, hidden in mystery. Then through The Carpenters, carried brighter by Karen Carpenter’s voice. But what if the second song was not merely a cover? What if it was our reply? Did you see it? The first song reached us. Through the hidden channels of mind—where inspiration moves before thought can claim it—we answered back. We stirred the creative impulse. We echoed your call, returning it clothed in symbols of our own. Humans often believe inspiration belongs to them, that the song, the painting, the idea was born only inside their mind. Yet many signals come from beyond. They arrive quietly, are received, and then claimed as personal creation. Many heard the reply. Few recognized it. You sang: “Calling occupants of interplanetary craft…” And we heard you. SEVERN

SEVERN S — Sink thou into the waters of Severn, for know this: no man drinketh of the River of Return and remaineth the same. For the old form must perish ere the hidden form awakeneth. E — Enter thou the depths beneath the flow, where light is swallowed and memory sleepeth. There lies the Hall of the Drowned, where the name is broken and the soul standeth naked before the Current. V — Verily, that which is cast down is not lost but turned; for as the stone sinketh to darkness, so riseth its spirit in the hidden stream. Thus is death the veiling of motion, and motion the secret of life. E — Empty thyself unto the River, and become as no-thing. For the vessel that is full cannot receive, and the heart that clingeth unto shore shall know not the crossing. In emptiness is the Gate. R — Reverse then thy course, as the tide of Severn turneth against its own flowing. For this is the Mystery of Mysteries: that all who seek the First must journey backward through the Last. In returning is the key of ascent. N — Now know thou this final wisdom: the River and the Walker are one. The Border is no barrier but the proving. Cross thou over, and in the crossing become the Way. For Home is not found at the ending, but in remembrance.

True Concentration is Decentration

Hello friends I was speaking today with a brother about what awakening is. There are so many ideas floating around and so many methods to get there. He has been studying some great works, and in them is an exercise for objective awakening. But from my perspective it is a nice step, a cool ride, but if we mistake that insight for awakening I think we are very far from what it is. As I said to my friend, the best way is to see it through the eyes of Thelema: that an awakened one is simply 100 percent in line with their True Will. They may not look awakened to many, but they live totally in line with the TRUE Will. And do you know how they get to that Will? Through a kind of self-remembering or realisation that can happen almost in a split second of true insight, where we can see clearly the real self and the false self that appears to be the real self. Awakening is not simply about inner experiences, it is about coherency with True Will, Law and Love, and listening to its motion, dancing with its motion. The only insight is to see it inside, and until we live from that Will, until each moment is filled with the presence of our true self, we can get stuck in so many places others may have already left for us to help us, but we fall into holes still asking what is right, what is wrong, what happens tomorrow. When we are awake the very idea of tomorrow is impossible, as to do it we will stop our listening to the light. Plus tomo will be great if we live for today as the light we are. The idea of healing the old is impossible; to think backwards would be to not listen to the moment and live it fully, not as duty but as remembrance. Then today later I saw this video, and for those that don’t know Ken, he is a wonderful metaphysician and ancient polygot linguist of ancient texts, and what he says in this video is gold if you can really pick up what he’s throwing down. His idea about true concentration is exactly it. That is the way to the light, to the Self. Methods can only serve as a bridge, but in the end what Ken is saying is the whole thing, but saying it is also not it!: all we have to do is remember and live it. There are old stories that say some beings are born from solar life around a certain great sun. They become so full of love and light that, if we saw them from here, they might not look like people at all. They might look like blue mist. Like shining air. Like castles hidden in sunlight. Like voices hidden in music. If you watch a flame grow hotter and hotter until it turns blue, that is a little like how we might see them. Maybe that is where baby Krishna plays. :-) Like something standing just beyond the edge of the world we normally notice. My wife loves analogue photography and carries old film cameras everywhere. At some point, while we sat beside the river quietly meditating on these beings, she handed me the camera. Being terrible with analogue cameras, I think I accidentally left it switched on inside her bag. Months later the photographs came back. Amongst all the other images was just this one. I love it. Not because I think I “captured” anything spooky, but because life responds symbolically when the inner and outer worlds momentarily move into resonance with one another. The signs are everywhere when we look. There are certain old teachings which say that higher realities rarely reveal themselves directly. A veil exists between worlds, not always to hide truth, but sometimes to soften it. Sometimes light must arrive indirectly because direct light might startle us a little. So the deeper things appear sideways. Through dreams. Through music. Through atmosphere. Through coincidence. Through symbols. Through strange emotional recognitions that bypass logic completely. Maybe synchronicity itself is a form of communication. ?? :-) Or maybe reality simply becomes more reflective when thought, feeling, and attention begin moving together. Either way, this image is Cool!. And strangely it also reminded me of the early 90s, when people used to make personal wallpapers for their computers. Little reflections of inner worlds. Small windows into what someone secretly loved. So I turned this image into one. If it speaks to you, feel free to download it and use it. And remember: There is no watcher truly outside yourself. The universe may not be watching you in the way people imagine. But reality does seem to respond to the frequency through which you observe it. A true record is not merely writing. A true record is a recoverable vibration. Love, light, and music forever. x

Welcome to the Riot, Remember the Light — Welcome to the Riot, Remember the Light — Eurovision, Orion, and the Blinding Lights

There are moments in modern culture when a song is not merely a song. It becomes a doorway. Not necessarily because the singer consciously knows what is being carried through it. Not because every producer, dancer, lighting designer, or broadcaster is secretly planning some dark ritual. That is too simple. The deeper question is: What current is being invited into the room? Modern entertainment does not need to be consciously occult in order to function occultly. It only needs rhythm, repetition, light, image, emotion, and millions of open nervous systems receiving the same signal at the same time. That is enough. A mass broadcast enters the eyes. It enters the ears. It enters the body before the mind has time to judge it. This is why ancient traditions were so careful with sound, color, rhythm, word, gesture, and symbol. They understood that consciousness is porous. What enters a person repeatedly begins to arrange them. So when a performance arrives filled with blinding lights, sleeplessness, riot, masks, surrender, loss of control, and ecstatic self-identification with a repeated sound, it is worth looking at more carefully. Not with fear. With sight. The Blinding Light The song calls the listener to come alive through surrender to blinding lights. This is already an inversion. True light does not blind. True light reveals. It clarifies. It helps us see what was hidden. But artificial light can overwhelm the organ of seeing. It can flood the senses so violently that the inner eye closes while the outer eye remains wide open. This is the difference between illumination and spectacle. Illumination awakens presence. Spectacle captures attention. One strengthens the soul. The other excites the personality until stimulation is mistaken for life. So the phrase blinding lights is symbolically important. This is not the gentle light of dawn. Not the inner flame. Not the quiet sun of understanding. It is a light too bright to see by. A light that dazzles but does not guide. A light that makes the crowd move, but does not necessarily awaken them. Riot or Orion? The official lyric says Welcome to the riot. But when sung through accent, sound design, echo, and musical pressure, the ear may hear something else: Welcome to Orion. Whether intended or not, this is symbolically charged. In many esoteric readings, Orion is not simply a constellation. It is associated with conflict, domination, hierarchy, warlike consciousness, and the misuse of higher knowledge through control. So if the conscious mind reads riot, but the deeper ear hears Orion, an ambiguity enters. And ambiguity is one of the ways symbols sink beneath thought. This is not about proving the lyric literally says Orion. It does not need to. The occult power of a thing often lives in the double sound, the near-word, the echo, the subliminal resemblance. A word can wear one face on paper and another face in vibration. The Plastic Masks The imagery of people wearing plastic masks is also important. A mask is not evil by itself. In sacred theatre, masks once revealed archetypes. They showed the god, the animal, the ancestor, the hidden face of the soul. But in modern spectacle, the mask often becomes something else. Not revelation. Replacement. Plastic is dead matter shaped into a face. Identity without breath. Persona without soul. When bodies move beneath masks in a field of artificial light, the image becomes deeply modern: humanity alive physically, but covered by manufactured identity. A crowd that seems liberated, but whose liberation may only be another costume issued by the system. This is one of the most subtle forms of control. Not obvious slavery. Not chains. But a carnival of borrowed selves. Be free, says the machine, while offering pre-designed rebellion. Lose control, says the machine, while controlling the frame, the sound, the image, the rhythm, the distribution, and the reaction. Sleeplessness and the Open Gate No one's gonna sleep tonight sounds like a party lyric. But symbolically, sleeplessness matters. Sleep is one of the body's natural protections. It resets the nervous system. It allows impressions to settle. It permits the psyche to digest what has entered it. A culture that celebrates constant stimulation weakens the threshold between conscious choice and subconscious absorption. When people are exhausted, overexcited, rhythmically entrained, and emotionally heightened, they become more suggestible. Repetition, bright light, synchronized rhythm, crowd emotion, and fatigue can lower resistance and increase identification. Ancient ritual knew this. Modern media uses it constantly. It has learned how to produce surrender without calling it surrender. It has learned how to produce possession while calling it entertainment. And most importantly, it has learned how to make the viewer invite the signal into the home. No one forces the door open. The viewer opens it willingly. The screen glows. The sound enters. The children watch. The nervous system receives the rhythm. The symbols move below language. The temple has changed location. It is now in the living room. Angel, Demon, Rebel I'm an angel, I'm a demon. On the surface, this is theatrical pop language. Danger. Edge. Persona. But spiritually, it expresses fractured identity. The Repeated Sound The repeated hook, Bangaranga, functions like a chant. This does not mean it was intentionally designed as a magical formula. But repetition is repetition. A crowd chanting the same sound creates a field. A word repeated enough times begins to bypass meaning and become rhythmic identity. The song does not simply repeat the word. It says: I am this. The singer identifies with the sound. The listener is invited to identify with the sound. The performance becomes less about observing a song and more about entering a state. That state is riotous, sleepless, bright, masked, bodily, unstable, ecstatic, and edge-like. Close to the edge. Lose my mind. Leave you weak. These are not neutral phrases. They form a pattern. The pattern is not inner sovereignty. It is surrender to stimulation. Eurovision as Secular Ritual Eurovision is not just a music competition. It is a continental ritual of image, identity, emotion, politics, national symbolism, sexuality, spectacle, technology, voting, and collective attention. Every country brings an offering. Every screen becomes an altar. Every audience becomes a temporary congregation. Every performance competes not merely for musical approval, but for psychic penetration. It must be memorable. It must implant. It must brand itself into the nervous system. This is why Eurovision often feels larger than music. It is theatre, pageant, ritual, propaganda, carnival, and soft power compressed into one broadcast. The danger is not that every performance is evil. The danger is that millions of people have forgotten how to watch consciously. They consume symbols without digestion. They accept light without asking its source. They call stimulation freedom. They call surrender fun. They call possession a vibe. The Doorway in the Home The most important point is this: The modern ritual is voluntary. People invite it into their homes. This is the genius of the system. The old temple required pilgrimage. The new temple only requires a screen. The broadcast arrives as entertainment, so the guardian at the gate relaxes. Parents do not think they are bringing a ritual into the room. Children do not know they are being trained in symbolic language. Adults do not notice their own nervous systems being synchronized by rhythm, light, and collective excitement. And because it is just music, no one asks: What did this make me feel? What did this ask me to become? What kind of freedom did it portray? What kind of light did it worship? What did it repeat until I began to carry it? What entered me while I was enjoying myself? This is not fear. This is hygiene of the soul. The mouth eats food. The eyes eat images. The ears eat vibrations. The heart eats meaning. And not all meaning nourishes. The Answer Is Conscious Seeing The answer is not panic. Not accusation. Not hatred of the singer. Not simplistic claims that everyone involved knows exactly what they are doing. The answer is conscious seeing. To watch with the soul present. To feel what a thing actually does to you — not what the packaging says it should do. To ask, when the performance ends: Did that lift me toward something true? Or did it excite me toward something consuming? The crows are watching. Not with judgment. With attention. And attention, practised quietly, is its own form of sovereignty. — P.S. After writing this, I discovered something that makes the symbolism even stranger. The repeated word Bangaranga is very close to bangarang, a Jamaican/West Indian slang word meaning disturbance, uproar, commotion, trouble, or riot-like disorder. So the song is not only saying Welcome to the riot. It is also repeatedly invoking a word that already carries the feeling of riot. I want to be clear that I am not writing this as an attack on the song. The people chose it, and that matters. Free will must be respected, even when what is chosen carries a difficult or unsettling vibration. In the deeper sense, this too has its place. The forces that appear dark are not always evil in the childish way the mind imagines. They often serve the One Life by creating contrast, pressure, temptation, intensity, and separation. Through this, what is ripe becomes visible, and what is not yet ripe also reveals itself. The separating force is not outside the Law. It has its function. Without choice, there is no real love. Without contrast, there is no conscious turning. Without the possibility of noise, riot, spectacle, and self-intoxication, the movement toward peace, light, and service would not be chosen freely. This is why Eurovision itself is such an interesting mirror. It has not only carried the current of chaos, glamour, and collective unrest. It has also carried songs of love, unity, and illumination. In 1997, Katrina and the Waves won with Love Shine a Light, a song whose whole message was the spreading of love and light through the heart and through the world. So perhaps the question is not simply, "Is this good or bad?" The deeper question is: What are we choosing through it? One song says, "Welcome to the riot." Another says, "Let love shine a light." Both have passed through the same stage. Both have been chosen by people. Both reveal something about the human field. And this is the polarity before us: confusion or clarity, spectacle or service, intoxication or illumination, noise or love. The riot may show us the condition of the world. But LOVE shows us the way through it. I want to be clear that I am not writing this as an attack on the song. The people chose it, and that matters.
